Jets™ Sanitary Systems

Since the late 1980s the Jets™ group has supplied the world's leading products in maritime sanitary technology. Today the group has more than half the world market for vacuum sanitary systems in this segment. The technology has also been used very successfully onshore, and has vast potential for growth in land based markets where considerations like environment, water savings and water costs are growing ever more important.

Global markets

  • Jets™ supplies vacuum sanitary systems to all types of ships and offshore installations, as well as to buildings of all sizes, trains, mobile restrooms and other markets onshore.

  • Jets™ representatives and distributors around the world ensure a firm global presence.

  • Jets™ serves customers in 150 countries on all continents, including Antarctica.

Vacuum advantages: less water, better environment

  • 25% of the world’s fresh water is used to flush traditional toilets (minimum 6 litres per flush).

  • The average person uses 17,000 litres of fresh water every year to flush traditional toilets.

  • Jets™ vacuum sanitary systems per flush, usually resulting in 90% less water use.

  • The energy saving and water saving Jets™ systems can be used with biological treatment plants, or even with biofuel plants for energy production (due to the highly concentrated end product).

Technology

  • Mr. Olav Hofseth invented the first Vacuumarator™ pump in 1986, and founded Jets™ with the help of partners.

  • Vacuumarator™ pumps are compact vacuum pumps with macerator knives that cut sewage into tiny particles.

  • The principle of a vacuum sanitary system is to use air pressure differences to transport sewage from toilets and urinals instead of water. Less than 1 litre of water is used when flushing, mainly to keep the toilet clean.

  • The compact and energy-efficient Vacuumarator™ pumps generate vacuum directly in the piping system, unlike older vacuum system designs which relied on large tanks and required a lot of space.
